Vaginal laser tightening and rejuvenation

LVR (Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

_

Your issue:

We all age. This includes our intimate parts. Amongst many of our patients, loss of collagen and elastin affects the endometrium, making it limp and lax. The state of the birth canal is additionally affected by undergoing natural childbirth. Breach births or above average birth sizes may cause overstretching of the vagina. Also, oestrogen hormones are responsible for the firmness of the tissue.  During perimenopause, oestrogen levels drop resulting in vaginal atrophy. This causes the lining of the vagina to become thin, delicate and dry and therefore looser.

The aforementioned factors cause the vagina to stretch with time. Additionally, these factors causes the pelvic ligament and fascia to stretch, as well as allowing the pelvic floor and underlying musculature to loosen. This in turn can lead to Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS). It is advisable to counter VRS as early as possible to prevent the syndrome from worsening.

In its later stages, the physical changes are accompanied by embarrassing sounds (resembling the passing of gas). Women with VRS are more prone to vaginal infections, and in extreme cases VRS can lead to pelvic prolapse.

Consequently, a number of women and their partners experience a lessening or even complete loss of sexual satisfaction. This understandably leads to sexual frustration, often coupled with relationship issues and low self-esteem. Luckily, the solution is easily available.

Medical procedure details

The methods we use

The issue, often referred to as ‘loose vagina’ requires professional treatment.  At Intima Clinic we offer Laser Vaginal Tightening. We use state of art, cutting edge gynaecological lasers as well as HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound). The chosen method depends on the state of patient’s mucosal lining.

Laser Vaginal Tightening involves controlled laser heating by exposing the vaginal tissue and surrounding ligaments to light, and thereby thermally altring them. Consequently, collagen and elastin tissues are immediately shortened (up to 75%) as well as thickened. This way the vagina tightens, even as the treatment is taking place.

Similarly, HIFU treatment regenerates and tightens the tissue surrounding the vagina, however it works in more in-depth ways also. Additionally, these types of treatments stimulate the regrowth of collagen and elastin tissues. This is because the lasers cause vaginal inner lining fractioning i.e. a controlled evaporation in the form of micro channels. The brain treats it as an injury, and therefore sends a signal to regenerate and heal the tissue. This is, of course, not the case; but the ‘tricked’ brain’s perception causes the body to accumulate regenerative functions at the area affected by the micro ‘injuries’. This leads to the regeneration of endometrium and submucosal tissue and also to the firming and strengthening of fascia and connective tissues. All of that causes the vagina to become thicker, tighter, firmer and more flexible.

How does the procedure work?

The procedure uses a professional tip, equipped with laser beam. The beam is fired onto the entirety of the mucosal lining. Moreover, the device is calibrated to cause an absolute minimum of pain or discomfort’.

The LVT ( or V-lase) takes 20-30 minutes. In the majority of cases the treatment is almost painless. It is carried out in a treatment room. It’s not a very invasive method. The patient can return to her everyday routine straight away. Some minimal discharge may occur for 3-4 days.

Possible reasons for the procedure:
  • Discomfort caused by the ‘loose vagina’.
  • Lack of sexual satisfaction of both the patient and her partner, caused by the loosening of vagina.
Disqualifying factors:
  • Intimate infections
  • Period
  • Diabetes
Pre-procedure recommendations:

Book a consultation where the specialist will talk you through the details of the procedure. Before the procedure, any possible infections need to be treated. You need to bear in mind that your period must not be due in the 5 days after the procedure.

Apart from that, an up-to-date vaginal swab is requested (its validity is up to one month) and a cytology test will also be necessary.

Post-procedure care:

Following the procedure intercourse should not be undertaken for 7 days. It is also not recommended to swim in a pool, take baths or use a Jacuzzi.

For the following 30 days you should use:

Vaginal globules with hyaluronic acid

Pharmaceutical collagen

Natural collagen in your diet

For a period of six weeks, do not use Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs or antihistamine drugs (anti-allergy).

The results:

The effects of the Laser Tightening procedure come in two stages. Thanks to the contraction of the fibres, the results are felt immediately following the procedure. However, to achieve the full effects associated with neocollagenesis (wound re-pair) we need to wait between 4 and 6 weeks.

As a result, after only one procedure the vagina becomes tighter and more flexible. The therapy greatly affects the patient’s everyday comfort, as well as her sexual life.

The reduction of the diameter of the vagina and its firming are not the only advantages of The Laser Vaginal Tightening. During the procedure, periurethral ligaments and fascia that stabilizes the urethra also tighten. The procedure can be therefore treated as prophylactic treatment against urinary incontinence and as a cure for its 1st stage.

Moreover, the mucosal lining fraction results in its rejuvenation while also stimulating glycogen production responsible for the moistening of the vagina. Thanks to this, the discomfort caused by vaginal atrophy, namely dryness , the feeling of burning and itchiness as well as pain during intercourse ceases. So do frequent intimate infections caused by the tearing of the tissue. Consequently, the patient feels much more comfortable.
